I am an IT guy turned Financial Analyst. I followed the herd, joined an IT major and a few years in I realized I didn’t have any niche. Up skilled to new tech (heard bigdata?) to stay relevant but realized I wasn’t cut out for a technical role. Herd behavior continued.
After working for a few years, I landed in a B school in expectation of doing something worthwhile – which remained elusive. I took up Tech Strategy since it was a natural progression from my past job. My work in Tech Strategy (back in the year 2016), required me to understand business models and how tech can address a company’s business challenges. I realized I love researching companies and how a company’s tech and business decisions impact their financial and valuation. That was the time I knew I had found my calling.
Subsequently, I moved to a Financial Analysis and Valuation focused Business Strategy group within my firm (courtesy: supportive bosses who saw my passion) since I believed it had a good overlap with Equity Research and Valuation. I also started researching companies independently around the same time.
I started a Equity Research and Valuation learning cohort program for students / working professionals who want to pivot to Finance like I did (coming from a different background).
P.S – I am more active on YouTube and LinkedIn.
